Join HCCA at the library on Wednesday, April 2 at 7:00 pm as we host a free program on how to create a bird-friendly garden, presented by Tom Tribble, an avid birder for 45 years, who served six years as President of our local Blue Ridge Audubon Society and now is their At-Large-Ambassador.

Haw Creek is a bird-loving community and we used to love hanging out the feeders to attract our feathered friends to our yards. And then came the bears, happy for these low-effort, high-calorie snacks in the neighborhoods of Haw Creek.

As a "bear-wise/bird-friendly" community, we have to rethink how we can support our alarmingly dwindling bird population. What we each do, one by one, on our little plots of land can generate a combined big effect on our Haw Creek bird population, and this program will inspire and connect all of us!

For over 100 years Audubon has focused on making the world a better place for birds. Today, birds face serious threats from habitat loss and climate change. With increased development and population growth, there are fewer undeveloped areas for our migratory and resident birds to find food, shelter and raise their young.

The single most effective action individual home owners can take to help birds is to make their own yards more bird-friendly as they make planting choices this spring. Join us for this program to find out how.

Registration is not required but it helps us plan for a successful event.
